BIOGRAPHIES
KIRK WOODWARD has worked in virtually every
aspect of theater -- as playwright, director, actor, producer, technician, and teacher. Born in Louisville, Kentucky, he
gained his first experience with the Louisville Children's Theater (now Stage One). His produced plays include the book for
the off-off Broadway musical The Biggest Little City...; A Dream of a Murder, a fantastic mystery; and numerous plays for
children, including The Wind in the Willows, produced at Town Hall in New York and across the country; The Bremen Town Musicians
(book, music, and lyrics); Aladdin; and (with Mona Hennessy) Shakespeare Circus, The Litter Show, and Five Kinds of Christmas.
His murder mystery Who's Who in Murder won the 1990 Hardin County playwriting competition. He has directed half a dozen plays
by Shakespeare, including, most recently, As You Like It, in addition to a number of musicals, including Company, Pippin (twice),
and the original off-off Broadway show Sophie's Dresses of Distinction. He has acted extensively for the Attic Ensemble;
served as President of the Attic Ensemble, producing partner for the LPC Company (performing touring plays for children),
and managing director of Stage Left, Inc., a New York theater company; served as assistant technical director for the Troubadour
Theater of Lexington, Virginia; and taught creative dramatics for the Pushcart Players of Verona, New Jersey, and the Center
for More than Dance Education in Hackensack, New Jersey. He has taught creative dramatics at the Performers Theater Workshop
in West Orange, New Jersey and acting, introduction to theater, and playwriting for the Adult School of Montclair. Currently
he is a staff member of Twelve Miles West Theatre, where he serves as producer for the Troupe of Vagabonds theater for young
audiences. He is a member of the Dramatists Guild, and is included in Who's Who in the Northeast.
MONA HENNESSY is
primarily an actress. She has worked professionally for over twenty years, including 15 years with Pushcart Players, one
of New Jersey's premier touring children's theatre companies. She also teaches Creative Drama and Acting, currently with
Essex Youth Theatre in Montclair,NJ. She and Kirk Woodward have been friends and collaborators for - well, a long time!
